To my fiercely loyal friend,
For a relationship built on a secret, I'd say we did pretty well at becoming real friends.
Can't say that I'll miss getting pummeled by you during our lessons, but it is a total bummer that I won't remember any of the moves you taught me. Maybe between the Broadway shows I know I'll be putting on (because I think we both know I will be on that big ol' stage), there will be some part of me that will want to take some martial arts lessons. My family would be pretty surprised by that for sure. I'll be kicking butt on and off the stage hardcore!
In all seriousness though, this wouldn't be a letter from me if I didn't give you some advice (which I know you won't want to listen to, but too bad). I'd like it very much if you would do your best to open yourself up just a little more to others. It's tough to make friends because they might go away, but a key to surviving a place like Atia is having good people around you. Trust me on this. I wouldn't have survived three years of this place if it hadn't been for awesome friends (like you). Don't be afraid to let people help you either, Miss Don't Worry About Me. Getting help from others and giving help in return is how it should be, end of story. You give so much, I'm afraid you'll drain yourself dry. So try for me, okay?
Anyway, okay, I'm not going to close this letter like some kind of after school special. Oh all right, maybe I will a little. I will miss the heck out of you. I'll miss all of our times spent drinking. And yes, maybe even you kicking my butt. Most of all, I will miss seeing your smiling, caring face showing up when I need you the most.
Make sure you have a drink or two for me, okay?
Stay cool!
Love,
Ryan
